st. patrick's day

i haven't been posting at all recently, have been feeling really depressed and haven't felt like taking pictures or posting anything.  i'm going to try to kick in again and post more often, i just unfortunately haven't felt it the last few weeks.

anyhow, this is what i did on thursday for st. patrick's day.  planned waaay ahead for that day ;)  this was the only green i had on for the day, heh.

surprisingly, i still have this on.  i'm thinking it's nail nation's base coat keeping it on so well.  it still looks the same as what it does in these pictures.

also...finally no cuticle issues at all.  i've been using the oil i threw together from the recipe found here.  she posted her recipe because she believes in the product and doesn't feel the need to hide ingredients.  unfortunately i couldn't justify the price when i can gather most of the ingredients used and make a huge batch for around the same price.  i was running low on solar oil and thought i'd give it a try.  i'm never going to use anything else ever again.   i put it on 1-2 times a day....usually just 1 time a day before bed on work days, a few times a day when i'm not at work and have time to let it soak in.

here's a list for the recipe if you don't feel like reading through the whole post.

  • 4 oz Jojoba Oil
  • 4 oz Grape Seed Oil
  • 4 oz Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 3 drops Tea Tree Oil
  • 2 mL Vitamin E Oil
  • 2 mL Vitamin A Oil
  • 2 to 4 mL Essential Oil (depending on the strength of the essential oil.) - i used eucalyptus and it smelled amazing to me.
i was able to purchase everything from drugstore.com.   the only thing that i couldn't find was liquid vitamin a oil, so i just bought the capsules and punctured them.  my friend allison found liquid vitamin a at vitacost.  next time i throw together a batch i'm sure i'll just buy it from there.  big thanks to her for the tip.  it's going to be a while before i need to buy any though, the batch this made is a good size, plus i still have like half a bottle of the vitamin a capsules left.  anyhow, i'd suggest anyone to try this, either by purchasing it or making your own.  my mom loves it and i know she'll also keep using it for as long as i have it on hand.

anyhow, this was supposed to be about my manicure, not the oil, but i got kinda sidetracked.  oh well.

here are some shiny pictures.

this was 2 coats of mean mr. mustard and 1 coat of beetle juice.  1 coat of poshe.  both of these were purchased from llarowe ages ago.

NFU JS34 and NFU58

i used 2 coats of JS34, with the flash of my camera visible nail line was showing, this isn't as noticeable in person.  the color on the nail is much lighter than what it shows in the bottle.  in the bottle this is a really pretty forest green.

1 coat of NFU58 was then added followed by 1 coat of poshe.

no cleanup done yet, excuse the extra flakies near my cuticles.

layla - jade groove

this was 1 coat of nfu oh's aqua base coat, which made a hell of a difference with this polish.  2 coats of jade groove.

before this polish would drag or get bald spots when applying the 2nd coat, so the fact that this applies like butter with this base means i'll definitely be reaching more for these layla's...after i get done wearing my nfu oh flakies.

this was on for almost 3 days with no chips or issues.

NFU JS 37 and NFU 57 - fail

so this is kinda fail...i planned on a gradient, but haven't done one in ages and obviously went too low with the black.   i will definitely redo this one soon and watch what i'm doing with nevermore lol.

i used 2 coats of NFU JS 37, 2 coats of nevermore sponged on, and  1 coat of NFU 57. 1 coat of poshe was used for my topcoat.

might redo it for my next manicure actually now that i'm looking at these pictures.  the JS 37 looks really cool where the black fades into it.

i can tell already from my last set of pictures that the nail oil i've been using is already making a difference.

the amount of copper that shows through in 57 on black is really impressive, you don't see that much of it in the polish.

nfu oh JS41 and NFU48

fast fast pictures,  i haven't cleaned these up yet but i wanted to get them shot before the sun moved away from my side of the building.

this is 2 coats of each polish and 1 coat of poshe.  seriously can't wait until my nails get way longer again to wear these.  these polishes look amazing in person.

ignore the cuticles...working on them with a home made oil i threw together last night, hopefully it'll do it's job.  my mom just called and said that she already started using the bottle i gave her and she can tell a difference already with how fast it soaked in.

first off,  wally might need a toe-hair trim.

i love how squishy this one looks.  it's part of their jelly syrup series.

nfu oh heaven

yeah, just picked these up from mom's.  fast and crappy pics, just wanted to get these online to show my friend.  the dust on the bottles looks like it's from the cardboard box.  i see a green gradient with flakies happening this week when i'm off work and have time.

purchased from fabuloustreet.com.  been wanting this brand for ages.

better together & daydream surprise

this is 2 coats of contrary polish - better together and 1 coat of enchanted polish daydream surprise.  1 coat of seche vite was used, then the next day i added a coat of butter london's matte topcoat.  i'm really liking the whole matte-glitter thing.

pear-butt wally is enjoying some snow watching today.
